Quotes

  • “The framework that I have seen across any high-performing organization is one, they have a vision. They have a distinctive point of view of where they are going and why.” -Robert “They have real core values, and then they have goals and targets of where they are going to be and how to get there to fulfill the vision and they have it in service of the values, so they can’t violate their values to get to their targets.” -Robert “The value should be how people behave and how they are making decisions. They are not preaching but demonstrating.” -Robert “Individuals need to know their personal core values. Companies usually come up with a vision first and then if we have to pull out the best of each person, what are the common principles.” -Robert“Vision can be aspirational but values have to be who you actually are.” -Robert“To me, values is the manifestation of the culture. I think you get what you reward. One of my favorite quotes ever is ‘Show me the incentive and I’ll show you the behavior, by Charlie Munger.” -Robert “Cultures are driven by the people that you hire and what their behaviors are outside of work often influence what their behaviors are inside of work.” -Ben“You are trying to find people who already are your core values. That is a cultural fit. We are looking for people who value the same things and we want to go on the same mission.” -Robert“Any organization has some uncompromising principles and that to me is the core values. But within that, we are not looking for people who broadly look like us, or think like us. We have a culture of excel and improve, like challenge the status quo and ask for the feedback.” -Robert “The important thing to keep in mind is balance. Having people that are different enough to have all of the different perspectives and not missing out on some of the decision principles that diversity brings but also have people that overlap just enough in the organization to be able to work together and achieve a common goal.” -Ben“To me, this is what diversity is about coming together from all walks of life to try to accomplish a goal.” -Ben“One of the things about marketing organization, as opposed to operations or logistics, is that you need to innovate and be creative.” -Robert “Marketing organizations need to move fast, they need to respond faster.” -Robert“My feelings about marketing these days is that it has become less of a solely creative focus and becoming more data-driven and technology-driven and you need to be well-rounded and able to do both.” -Ben
