Quotes

  • “What we are about is showing that companies that they can have time and trade in, that they dont have to wait for the future and they can have it now. In laymans terms thats about how to simplify your business so you can enjoy life right now and a lot of that is systems and processes.” - Tristan

  • “When I grew up in Silicon Valley, where the startup ecosystem is and the truth is, high-growth teams are all about finding young talent, pushing them to try to achieve unattainable goals and working until they crack.” - Ben

  • “The point I am really trying to make is there is this mantra that work all day and work all night, and good things will come. That is not necessarily the truth.” - Tristan

  • “A lot of the language here in Australis is about grinding and hustling and those are two words that I despise because theyre going to work for a short time but youre going to burn out really, really quickly. You may get results in the short-term but not in the midterm and long term.” - Tristan

  • “If youre grinding and hustling all the time, youre not paying attention to what youre doing. Youre just on a treadmill.” - Ben

  • “Its really simple. It is that the teams are all in on the vision and the direction of the business and the leader is really good at communicating to the team where the business is heading and what the benefits are going to be for the end user, and more importantly, what the benefits are for each team member.” - Tristan

  • “Some of the changes were, the teams who already had issues internally and those that werent necessarily good at tech eventually started to struggle because people have gone back to their home and they have been able to hide behind their computers and so communications have dropped off.” - Tristan

  • “So theres a process of getting the view on how the leader is performing but also taking the input of all the employee.” - Ben

  • “What we need to do is simplify what we are doing. So many businesses get overwhelmed saying they need to attack this, this, and this and all right now. In reality, the human mind doesnt work like that. We need to simplify and understand that we can only achieve some things at a time and if we focus on one or two things, we can achieve it a lot faster.” - Tristan

  • “We need to understand who our audience is and if the audience is actually capable of spending money in your vertical and then understand how you can provide the most value to that audience. Once we know that, we can go, Okay, lets focus on that topic first or that area first. - Tristan

  • “Interesting it is a similar practice to deciding what you should do from a marketing campaign perspective. You think about your audience and you develop your products and services or your marketing campaigns around them. In this case, you understand who your existing audience is, and you start building your products and services around their needs.” - Ben

  • “There is a little bit of question in my mind and that is, our customers and our audience right now are two separate things. Our customers are our sponsors and our audience is the people that listen to the podcast. Two different groups and if we build stuff for our audience, they are not necessarily the people paying the bills and it kind of creates a need for a different model.” - Ben

  • “The people that are paying you, I assume want to advertise to your audience. So we need to understand why the audience is going to listen, what value the audience needs, and then we go back to the people who are paying and saying, This is what the audience needs and then work out how you can get the advertisers to pay for you.” - Tristan

  • “What I find a really simple way to do is say, Hey guys. This is where we are now, this is where we want to get to, and then I actually draw up a roadmap for them and say, this is where we are going to be in 3 months time, 6 months time, or 9 months time and this is how it would look at this time and this is what will be implemented in this period.” - Tristan

  • “After that, I will go back to my staff and ask, Does this make sense to you, can you say how this is going to work, and can you see any holes in this strategy.” - Tristan

  • “At the end of the day when you are working with your team trying to evolve them into a high-growth team is making sure that they understand the vision and the direction that you are heading. Breaking things down into small enough increments so they know what theyre working on in the near-term and helping them simplify what is not a priority out of the way so they could focus on what matters the most.” - Ben

  • “Theres a book called, Measure What Matters and describe this really well and from the CEO to the last team, they all end up working towards the same end goal.” - Tristan
