Quotes

  • “For me LinkedIn is a power tool simply because it has helped me to transition my career and every single time I could fast track it because in the end it’s all about connection. And if you have content, so you’re starting a conversation, you are communicating with people. This is where conversations happen because people can like you and trust you.” - Petra“LinkedIn is a great way to connect with decision makers. 4 in 5 people in LinkedIn are decision-making positions so the chances that you can reach out to people in charge is quite high and even if they are not the final decision maker, they would know who is.” - Petra“You want to be known for more than just a job title because the job title is very replaceable. You don’t want to become a commodity. You want to be known for your personal traits that only you can have and no one else can compete. This is your unfair advantage.” - Petra“At the same time we’re also talking about leadership qualities. If you want to get into a leadership position or get into a team or host events whatever it might be. You need to showcase your abilities and the best way for you to show that you’re a great communicator is by creating content. You can write articles or just join conversations.” - Petra“On top of that and probably the most important, LinkedIn is a search engine. It also ranks high in Google because it’s a trusted source of information.” - Petra“So LInkedIn being a content platform is a way to get your voice out there. It’s a search engine. It’s important for your personal branding when somebody is off of LinkedIn. It is still one of the primary ways that you’re gonna be represented around the internet. There’s also the notion that you can target people for getting your message across.” - Ben “For me it’s about showing up and being consistent. You want to know your 3 to 5 content pillars. Topics that you constantly talk about and you want to be associated with and they should be strategically chosen.” - Petra“You want to be strategic with your content creation and also with the hashtags that you’re using because with hashtags you can show up with people’s feeds who are interested in that topic. At the same time, if you tag people or companies, you can tap into their audience so it’s a great way to expand your network.” - Petra“Then with the new feature on stories, you can literally interact with people directly. I like stories for a couple of reasons, you can engage more casually because you can just say do a clip and say, ‘well done’. It’s quicker and it’s one-on-one.” - Petra“Any social media activity can lead to the next step which is to have a one-on-one conversation that shows you’re interested in what they’ve got to offer and I’ve got what you’re looking for.” - Petra“One of the things that I’ve realized with LinkedIn is the connections you can make. I used to think that it was for professional connections that already existed. That’s not necessarily always the case.” - Ben“The biggest currency that we can get paid for is attention. So you want to create attention and interest so that people can trust you and engage with you further, initiate a one-on-one conversation or comment on your post.” - Petra“The point here is if you’re producing content specifically for LinkedIn and when people are writing about you and your content, it’s basically a warm lead to build your connection. The goal is not have a working relationship and not have that on LinkedIn. It is to use LinkedIn to build a working relationship. So for me, the cold outreach of following someone who likes my post generally converts very highly.” - Ben “You made a great point about partnerships. That you connect with people who are in similar fields, who have complementary services and tap into their networks.” - Petra“You build your brand by everything you do and what you say but then you also build brand by association because that is your social proof. And like you said, there is already trust. This is how influencer marketing works and we are just fast tracking the sales cycle because we’re trusting this one person who recommends this product or service.” - Petra“You want to find commonalities and if you have something in common, we are familiar with each other and we are more likely to connect. But you are also correct in following people, engage with their content, show some interest before you just blindly connect.” - Petra“The Future of Work campus has been designed to help individuals and companies know what is the latest in the industry. What do we need to know when it comes to skill development. Can we build a brand, a community, and a network around us to actually pivot, build a portfolio, have multiple income streams while developing skills further and filling your network because at the end of the day, your network is your net worth.” - Petra
